About this Instructor:

Chris Roesinger is a thriving artist whose lucid creations in glass can most often be found adorning the highly complimented. Born in Germany to American parents, Chris spent most of his formative years in a small New Jersey town outside of New York City. He attended high school at St. Peters Prep in Jersey City, NJ where he began to identify a consciousness, an inexplicable urge to repel those platitudes sought after by the many in favor of those only dared by the few. What began as an accumulative heart-led diversion from traditional career options during the latter high school years would eventually change the direction of his life.

Nevertheless, Chris entered college at the University of Delaware with the intention of completing a degree in business administration and marketing. It was an intention better reserved; for it was not the curriculum, but the resounding freedom, the exposure to so many people and new ideas that had at last resolved his spirit to its rightful path to success and ultimately unleashed his creative fervor. He began to appreciate, study, and create art in the insatiable ways that those who discover that passion within are compelled to do. Two years later, with an enveloping resolve, he transferred to New Jersey City University where he graduated with Honors and earned his Bachelor of Science in Marketing. After college, to support himself, he worked for some time as a data analyst for emergency department operations. Here he worked on streamlining the hospitals emergency room experience with an emphasis on patient comfort. During this time, his love of art found a solid focus as his hobby of woodworking became more refined. He began designing pieces utilizing exotic woods, traditional wood burning techniques and oil paints to produce portraits and images. The woodworking began to provide enough income for him to consider art as a full-time career.

Soon after, Chris had an offer to apprentice with a friend and scientific glass blower who had moved beyond the scientific realm and branched out artistically. Jumping at the opportunity, he moved to South Jersey where he immediately became a fixture of the local glassblowing scene. This emersion allowed him to benefit greatly from a dynamic learning experience. His drive led him to enroll in Salem Community College and to take independent classes from great artists including Emilio Santini and Paul Stankard.

At this point, Chris' career began to advance rapidly, giving him the financial opportunity to open up his own retail establishment in West Chester, PA. The store carried a majority of his work, featured pieces from a variety of renowned artists, and included local pottery and a beautiful collection of fine minerals. The shop was recently sold in an effort to provide more time to focus on his glass work. This focus has resulted in a rapid career acceleration evidenced by acceptance into the Snyderman Works Gallery Annual Goblet Show in Philadelphia, PA. For the past three years, he has also been an exhibitor and featured demonstrator at the Lapidary Journal Bead Festival. His work can be found at many nationwide art and craft events, various bead/gift emporiums, and online.

Chris now lives in Skaneateles, New York, a majestic area in the heart of the Finger Lakes region. Here he draws from the surrounding natural beauty and serenity, allowing him to expand his repertoire of artistic skills. He continues to develop his line of jewelry, creating an ever-expanding array of designs which bring a sense of individuality and beauty to the wearer. His newest work is attempting to bridge the gaps between modern jewelry design, traditional lampworking, and the new technology and techniques that have become available to the borosilicate glass artist. Looking farther down the road, he plans to continue to diversify his artistic interests, moving into more complex utilitarian design, as well as decorative and artistic objects.
