About this Instructor:
My experience as a painter,
illustrator and graphic artist has given me a strong
background in two dimensional design. Jewelry making and
metalsmithing led me in the direction of three
dimensional design. I see molten glass as pigment
waiting to be sculpted into form, and the discipline
needed to work at the torch appeals to me. I enjoy
striving for perfection in the special challenge of
controlling hot glass.
Glass is also fun. I
continue to explore jewelry making techniques and tend
to use whimsical creatures as my narrative. Each piece I
work on has it's own personality, formed from fire, born
at the torch. I also enjoy kiln work and using a mosaic
technique of fusing that allows me to create paintings
from bits of colored glass.
Deb DiMarco is well known in our area and instructs and
demonstrates at Salem Community College and the
Wheaton Museum Village right here in South Jersey. She
feels that "the profess of creation is like a stream of
consciousness, continually expanding and emerging. Working
with glass as a medium is particularly satisfying because it
offers so many challenges and different forms of
expression."
