About this Instructor:
Loren's
lampworking stemmed from his work as a stained glass artist for
some 20 years. Although he began with beads, Loren's work
quickly, competently evolved to include murrini, sculpture, and
paper weights. His love of challenge lead him to begin creating
his sculptures, which has become his favorite form of glasswork
to date. Fellow flameworkers told Loren statues of the magnitude
he suggested could not possibly be created in soft glass. Of
course, anyone who knows Loren, knows he had to prove them
wrong. He succeeded.
With his incredible sense of humor,
easy-going personality, and patient teaching technique it's no wonder
Loren's student constantly return to learn the next step in glass
expertise. His teaching has lead him on travels throughout the world
including Japan, Canada and extensively throughout the United States.
Loren's work is currently on display in
several renowned museums: The Corning Museum of Glass, the Wheaton
Museum, the Eretz Israel Museum and the Kyohei Fujita Glass Museum.
"Everybody who's anybody knows
he's the best, the cream of the crop," Lynda says. "If it's not been
done, he'll do it. He's an incredible artist. ~ Lynda Graham
